SPRING HILL, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Pasco County authorities say a small plane crashed into some water in Spring Hill just before 9:30 a.m. 11500 Pilot Country Drive.
Officials say the plane hit the water at the end of the runway while it was taxiing, so it was never in the air, and that there is a small fuel spill in the retention pond.
Authorities say the pilot, Stephen Barton, was not injured. He was evaluated at the scene by PascoCounty fire rescue members.
No one else was inside the plane at the time of the crash.
The plane, a 1958 Cessna 172, leaked about two gallons of fuel into the pond, which is located at the front of the small airport, officials said.
