SARASOTA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Sarasota Police say 23-year-old Uriel Hernandez from Sarasota has been charged with felony aggravated manslaughter of a child after leaving his 2-year-old daughter in a vehicle Sunday morning.

Police say detectives responded to 1500 N. Orange Ave for suspicious death of a child. Police say the child had a body temperature of 106 when she arrived at the hospital, while the temperature in the City of Sarasota was between 85 and 95 at the time of the incident.

Police say the child's mother told detectives Hernandez picked up the child at approximately 6 a.m. on Sunday and that Hernandez called her before noon to tell her the child was not responding. Police say the child's mother rushed to the house and called 911 on the way. That’s when police say detectives learned Hernandez arrived home with the child, went inside to get a phone charger and fell asleep.
