TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA.com) - The Florida Department of Transportation will release a report this week that could help Tampa Bay’s cruise business keep sailing in the future.

Cruise ships barely fit under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge now and cruise lines keep ordering bigger, taller ships.

"The vast majority of new ships coming out are mega-ships and we need to be ready for them," said Tampa Port Authority Board member Sandra Murman.

Murman is anxious to read the results of the state’s study into solutions.

"Everybody's going to examine it thoroughly. A lot of questions are going to come out of it... engineering questions, environmental questions, cost questions," she said.
