Lakeland man charged after striking brother with pot plant

LAKELAND, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Polk County Sheriff’s deputies say 31-year-old Rodney J. Brown of Lakeland faces several charges after authorities say he hit his brother with a marijuana plant.

Deputies say Brown was arrested on Saturday, June 7, 2014, charged with Domestic Battery, Cultivation of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana over 20 grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

PCSO said they received a call about a domestic disturbance in north Lakeland around 6:30 pm Saturday evening. Deputies say the victim, 33-year-old Jackie Brown reported that he and his brother had been involved in an argument which turned physical and that his brother had struck him with “a plant from the yard.”

Deputies say Rodney Brown, the homeowner, allowed deputies to search the property where they found ten marijuana plants outside and drug paraphernalia inside the residence

Authorities say Rodney was arrested and transported to the PolkCounty jail without incident; he has since bonded out.
