(Clearwater, Fla. - WFLA) Clearwater Police detectives say they are investigating a reported sexual assault case that originated at a Sand Key hotel.
Police say they were called to the Sheraton Sand Key, 1160 Gulf Blvd., about noon on Thursday after a 32-year-old woman said she had been sexually assaulted. The incident reportedly took place late Wednesday and early Thursday in one of the hotel's second-floor rooms, police said.
The person she accused of assaulting her is a law enforcement officer who was attending a training conference for the International Association of Human Trafficking Investigators, police said.
The law enforcement officer who was accused does not work for the Clearwater Police Department or any other law enforcement agency in the Tampa Bay area, police said.
