PINELLAS (970 WFLA) – Pinellas County deputies say a Clearwater man was arrested for DUI after a crash with a deputy overnight.
According to M.A.I.T. investigators, a deputy was headed home from an off-duty detail in his marked cruiser around 12:40 Sunday morning and was heading northbound on Belcher Road attempting a left turn onto Bell Cheer Drive.
Deputies say 22-year-old Christian Brinsko was traveling southbound on Belcher Road in the median lane in his car with no headlights and that only parking lights were on.
Deputies say the deputy did not see the vehicle, started his left hand turn and struck the driver's side rear wheel area of the vehicle.
Brinsko was transported to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released, according to PCSO, and following release deputies conducted a DUI investigation. Deputies say Brinsko was determined to be impaired and was arrested for DUI and DUI property damage.
Sheriff’s officials say the deputy was not injured but the cruiser sustained damage to the left front area.
