PLANT CITY, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Four people were arrested and now face charges after deputies discover a marijuana grow house in Plant City.

Friday March 7, HCSO said deputies responded to a burglary in progress at 6600 block Knights Griffin Road in Plant City after a witness reported seeing a van drop two men off at the residence and then take off.

When deputies arrived on scene, officials said they discovered fresh pry marks on the rear of a shed.

K-9 deputies then tracked and located two suspects who were both arrested, officials said. Patrol deputies located the van nearby and later arrested driver in connection with the other two males involved, deputies said.

During the search of a detached garage, detectives discovered it had been converted for the sole purpose of cultivating marijuana, according to HCSO.

Deputies said a total of 66 large marijuana plants growing inside soil-filled pots were seized along with several pieces of equipment used to manufacture marijuana. Deputies said TECO responded and located an illegal electricity connection providing unmetered electricity to the garage and estimated the theft of electricity to be approximately $10,000.

Detectives then arrested the tenant, deputies said, and charged him with trafficking in marijuana, manufacture of marijuana, own, lease or rent for purpose of trafficking, grand theft third degree (electricity). The marijuana had an estimated street value of $265,000, deputies said.

Officials said all four suspects were arrested and taken to the Orient Road Jail.
